James W. Robertson, 85 died at his home in Indianapolis early on Monday morning. He had been ill but a few days. Funeral services on Wednesday afternoon at the Machledt Funeral Home were in charge of Rev. Leon Duncan. Mrs. Duncan accompanied by Mrs. Lowell Spencer sang Lead Kindly Light; Somewhere the Sun is Shining; and Crossing the bar. The pall bearers were AC Deere; Hubert Loudermill; FT Burrin; Lowell Spencer; Charles D. Barr and Richard Johnson. The flowers were carried by Mesdames Etta Campbell; AC Deere; Lee Foster; Garrie Dillman; CB Taylor; TN Johnson; Harry Machledt and Miss Marie Milligan. Burial in Maple Ridge by the side of his first wife, who was Miss Alice Kritz. Among those present for the funeral were his sister, Mrs. Ella Butcher of Greencastle and her daughter, Mrs. Straudie Love, Mr. Love, Fred Robertson, a brother of Noblesville; Thomas Jackson of Lebanon besides those present form Indianapolis; Mrs. Robertson, the daughter, Mrs. Taylor Groninger, Mr. Groninger, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Kreil and Mr. Hymer. Mr. Robertson was born on a farm east of town, the son of Zachariah and Anna Robertson. He attended the old academy and taught school for a number of years. After being in various business enterprises he bought the Waveland telephone system. After selling this he moved to Indianapolis. He was a member of the Presbyterian church and charter member of Knights of Pythias Lodge. - kbz
